Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Mainframe Operator to join our onsite team in Pontiac, MI. This role requires a hands-on professional who can function as a Level 1 Incident Manager, triaging and escalating critical incidents across various IT systems while ensuring system uptime and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Level 1 Incident Manager for critical IT events
  • Quickly create, escalate, and track technology-related incidents
  • Monitor mainframe control consoles and system performance
  • Utilize graphical monitoring systems to track infrastructure availability and health
  • Collaborate with internal IT staff, customers, and vendors
  • Perform hardware-related tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and assigned deliveries
  • Validate and review mainframe job control language (JCL) as needed
  • Work flexible shifts, including days, afternoons, midnights, weekends, and holidays

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience as a Mainframe Operator or similar role
  • In-depth knowledge and at least 5 years of experience using Microsoft Teams
  • Familiarity with tools such as What's Up Gold, Pingdom, PRTG, IBM Mainframe
  • Strong incident management and triaging skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed

Important Notes

  • Onsite presence is mandatory — this role does not allow remote work
  • Candidates must be willing and able to work varied shifts, including holidays

Job Type: Contract
