Summary

The IT Database Engineer is responsible for designing, building, supporting, and advanced data solutions across a hybrid cloud enterprise. This role blends hands-on database engineering with co-architecting next-generation infrastructure, ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable systems. The engineer will enable integration with enterprise systems and other enterprise platforms into a unified, AI ready data fabric that supports real time insights, compliance, and digital transformation initiatives

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Data Architecture and Engineering
  • Build and manage robust data schemas designs to support applications and specific needs of AI
  • and ML workflows.
  • Develop robust pipelines across hybrid cloud environments (Azure/AWS)
  • Design and optimize infrastructure for AI/ML workloads and advanced analytics.
  • Develop, maintain, documents database schemas, stored procedures, and back-end code.
  • Implement data mesh, data fabric, governance, and enterprise metadata standards.
  • Cleanse and transform raw data into formats suitable for AI models by handling missing values, duplicates, errors, and inconsistencies.
  • Database Administration
  • Administer and monitor SQL Server, SSRS, Oracle, and cloud-native databases.
  • Ensure high availability, security, and disaster recovery of data systems.
  • Plan, execute, and document database upgrades and data migrations.
  • Integrate AI models and databases using APIs, SDKs, ETL Pipelines for efficient flow and data model performance.
  • Collaboration and Support
  • Provide tier 2/3 database support, root cause analysis, and proactive resolution
  • Partner with IT Ops, systems analysts, developers, and support vendors to ensure database reliability and data integrity.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions with customer first approach.
  • Develop technical training materials, process workflows, adoption strategies for new tools Automation and Innovation
  • Design and build robust pipelines to collect and ingest data from platforms, databases, APIs, and ingest data into the AI ecosystem, ensuring data flow and integrity.
  • Develop low code automations using RPA and leverage data integrations to enhance user experience
  • Build dashboards and administer robust reporting requirements in Power BI for real time business intelligence
  • Creates automated workflows to simplify repetitive database tasks and optimize efficiency (backups, monitoring, performance tuning, upgrades) to ensure high availability of data and reduced manual intervention.
  • Design Power Automate logic and flows to connect data pipelines to applications and ensure data governance.
  • Enable modern DevOps/CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery) practices for data management. Automate schema changes, data migrations and seeding, and data pipeline
  • deployments. Enable repeatable provisioning of database environments and incorporate secure code practices for database objects.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and/or at least six (6) to ten (10) years of

experience and/or training in a similar technical job function.

Experience supporting AI/ML workloads.

Experience designing for accuracy and consistency.

Advanced proficiency in ETL and ELT frameworks.

Advanced proficiency with PL/ SQL (Structure Query Language), Data Lake technologies.

Programming experience in Python, C#, C++ or similar combination of languages

Experience with PySpark, Spark.

Proven experience in data modeling, metadata management, and business intelligence tools.

Strong background with data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.

Desirable experience in:

Project management, Jira.

Enterprise applications and web apps in hybrid environment.

Background in Manufacturing environments, Quality Management, regulated environments.

Experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
