As part of these development teams, we have gained approvals for some of the city's most defining projects of the past decade, including Academy Square, Dodger Stadium, Columbia Square, Google, LAX Automated People Mover, Netflix, Sunset Bronson Studios, Westside Pavilion as well as several high-end custom single-family homes.

The Planner will work closely with the project teams and Directors to help manage construction projects from beginning to end regardless of the phase they come to us.

What You'll Do…

  • Manage project approval process through City and outside City & County agencies

  • Prepare Pre-Development Consulting and Feasibility analysis in relation to zoning constraints & opportunities, prepare timelines, fee estimates and entitlement strategies

  • Work with staff to facilitate project goals and KWA services

  • Manage cases with a sense of urgency

  • Manage projects and team members with a professional approach resulting in a timely and effective project conclusion

  • Work as a team player in a collaborative working environment

  • Perform site research, site visits & zoning research

  • Attend project meetings and/or conference calls

  • Work with Clients, Project Managers, Architects, Engineers, Traffic Consultants, Contractors and other development team members in a polite and effective manner in order to facilitate project goals

  • Prepare and submit entitlement and subdivision cases including justifications, findings and exhibits

  • Effectuate and vest approved entitlements

  • Effectuate, vest, and record Final Maps

  • Prepare Environmental Assessment Forms for ND or MND status

Represent client project and present entitlement cases through Neighborhood Councils, local Homeowner Associations, community meetings, City Council and to City Public Hearings

  • Manage junior planners and/or expeditors to facilitate project goals and KWA services

  • Coordinate radius maps and ownership lists, posting of notices, site photos and PowerPoint presentations if needed for a project

  • Track City land use policy that may impact client and KWA services

What You'll Need…

  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred; High school diploma, Associate's degree or incomplete Bachelor's accepted for candidates with strong professional work experience

  • 2 years of relevant professional work experience

  • Attention to detail and organized

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Competent in MS Word and Excel

  • Ability to manage fluctuating priorities

  • Capacity to work collaboratively across a team of several managers
