The
AI Program Manager
articulates program strategy to achieve the business objective, creates and oversees execution structure for the program, clarifies business impact and coordinates underlying projects to attain their combined benefits for the program. The AI Program Manager works closely with the program sponsor to understand and translate business objective into an accumulative series of program outcomes in the operating context of the business. Building upon this, the AI Program Manager applies IT PMO standards and guidelines to define, organize and oversee a program execution structure. Within the execution structure, the Program Manager communicates the vision, coordinates effort, and provides high-level oversight to bring together the sum of multiple project outputs and integrate them to realize a greater program outcome. This position also works with the program sponsor on governance activities, accountability, risks and benefit realization and communication to clarify program decisions. The Program Manager is accountable to manage the lifecycle of the program, including set program controls for daily management, plan and monitor progress to accomplish milestones, manage program budget, manage risks and issues throughout the lifecycle of the program, coordinate project and interdependencies, manage and use resources across projects and manage stakeholders in program outcomes. This role is responsible for all program-level work views that are necessary for the program sponsor to measure, track and communicate how the program outcomes meet the business objective. The skills required for this role are ability to look at the big picture, ability to translate business objective into an outcomes-based framework for action, strong project management, proficiency with fostering team culture and dynamics, negotiate through disputes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to guide, referee and integrate various projects and project managers involved in the program.

The Artificial Intelligence Program Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of services in support of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) program and providing program leadership and management. This position is responsible for managing the AI program, designing and implementing standard program processes and program elements, assessing and optimizing program health, and providing program and project management (the latter as needed) in collaboration with team leadership, other project managers, IT staff, and other stakeholders. The AI Program Manager will work effectively across diverse stakeholders and cross-functional team members together in common purpose to deliver AI/ML solutions for business value. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of AI and machine learning (ML) technologies (including supporting data analytics, infrastructure dependencies, applications, technology dependencies, cost implications, and value), technology governance, and improving AI adoption and maturity across the enterprise for critical business outcomes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create, expand, and manage technology and data services in support of Fairview's AI program and optimizing use of AI/ML technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with protocols, best data practices and take ownership of the necessary documentation (design, test plan, implementation plan, etc.)
  • Establish an AI community of learning connected closely stakeholder teams for innovative AI solutions (including, as applicable, learning health system and U of MN teams). Build strong business partnerships across stakeholders optimizing these relationships over time.
  • Track milestones and program metrics to demonstrate program value and maturity
  • Continuously maintain, enrich, and prioritize the product backlog to ensure the team constantly implements those items which add the greatest value to the business, customers, users, and patients.
  • Project manage and take ownership of individual AI project implementations and/or direct project managers in various workstreams, including formalizing feature roadmaps and implementing release
  • Lead the planning of AI program product releases and manage expectations regarding timelines and functionality.
  • Take an active role in mitigating impediments which interfere with the delivery of product value
  • Support defining minimum viable product (MVP) and effectively negotiating tradeoffs of conflicting priorities based on value to the business and customer.
  • Ensure financials are tracked for projects and the greater program using a services framework.
  • Develop, drive, and implement AI program strategies that reduce costs, increase quality and improve customer service\satisfaction
  • Provide thought leadership to the continuous improvement of processes, policies and best practices to optimize performance and availability of AI technologies. Drive and develop consistent technical build, implementation and support processes. Verify designs are validated and adhere to defined standards
  • Define, track and measure overall performance and metrics (KPIs) for the AI program. Complete and distribute reports, models, status updates, or statistics as applicable to program sponsor as required. Provide proper escalation to program sponsorship for issues as necessary
  • Continuously develop knowledge and technical subject matter expertise in Artificial Intelligence and other advanced analytics and related technologies by remaining apprised of AI industry trends, the direction of emerging AI technologies, and their potential value to the business. Gain and maintain a broad understanding of business, business needs, and how potential AI, advanced analytics and related technologies can most effectively drive and support the business.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, technology or related field or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
  • 5 years managing programs with at least 7-10 years managing large, complex projects
  • Experience compiling and following strict budgets
  • Experience
  • Significant information technology expertise and experience including 3+ years of experience with IT application or data technology/analytic solutions.
  • At least intermediate knowledge of AI/ML or data science methods/technologies.
  • At least intermediate knowledge of HIPAA, information security, and data management.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work with a range of technical staff, operational partners, architects, and other stakeholders (e.g., customers) to develop joint solutions
  • Ability to facilitate problem solving among groups with varying needs and priorities
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Understanding of software development life cycle
  • Strong quantitative and analytic skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and work collaboratively to address problems.
  • Strong customer facing and customer service background
  • Experience managing AI/ML, data science, and/or automation projects
  • Intermediate expertise on AI/ML and data science technologies (e.g., computing infrastructure, cloud technologies and associated infrastructure, AI/ML packages and pipelines, AI/ML algorithms and methods).
  • Expertise on data standards and data normalization.
  • Experience and/or expertise with IT or enterprise architecture practices
  • Proven continuous service improvement track record
  • Experience within the Healthcare Industry
  • Experience in a large, complex organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree
  • 5 years leading enterprise programs to achieve business outcomes that are differentiating in the marketplace
  • PMP or other program management certification
  • Epic certifications
