Navy Federal Credit Union – Operational Risk Testing Analyst (HR Risk Focus)

Locations:

Contract:
6 Month on W2 Only (can extend)

We're seeking a
detail-oriented Operational Risk Testing Analyst
with a focus on
HR risk
to support control testing activities within our operational risk framework. The ideal candidate will execute control tests using pre-defined scripts to evaluate the
design and effectiveness of key controls
, and contribute to identifying, documenting, and tracking operational risk issues to ensure timely and effective resolution.

This role requires a strong understanding of the
RCSA (Risk and Control Self-Assessment)
methodology and familiarity with
enterprise and operational risk management frameworks
.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute control testing activities for HR processes in accordance with established scripts and timelines.
  • Review control evidence and assess control design and operating effectiveness against defined criteria.
  • Document testing results and prepare reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Support issue management, including documentation, root cause analysis, action plan development, and remediation tracking.
  • Collaborate with HR process owners, risk partners, and audit/compliance teams to ensure appropriate risk coverage.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing methodologies and control evaluation processes.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Audit, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in operational risk, audit, compliance, or internal controls testing — ideally within HR or financial services.
  • Strong understanding of RCSA methodology and control testing best practices.
  • Experience managing the full issue lifecycle (identification, remediation, and tracking).
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software tools.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Knowledge of HR operational processes and related risks (e.g., hiring, onboarding, compensation, employee relations).
  • Experience working with GRC tools such as
    Archer
    or
    MetricStream
    .
  • Understanding of HR-related regulatory requirements (e.g.,
    EEOC
    ,
    FMLA
    ,
    SOX
    ).
  • Prior experience working in an HR or operational risk team.
