Position Overview

W orld Book is seeking a n experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team . The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting key accounting processes and strategic finance initiatives. This role oversees complex accounting areas, mentors staff, and collaborates cross-functionally to enhance processes, controls, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Close , Reporting and Compliance

Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.

Oversee accounting over Working Capital, Inventory, Payroll, as well as advanced treatment s around C apitalization and A mortization of Software, Pre-Publication and Commissions .

Support tax filings, budgeting, and ad hoc financial analysis.

• Business Partnership and Reporting

Partner with and o versee planning and analysis around Research and Development and General and Administrative functions.

Assist in variance analysis and management reporting .

• Process Improvement & Controls

Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies ; m aintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting and audit readiness .

Recommend and implement accounting process improvements and automation opportunities , including ERP enhancements and data integrity.

• Mentor Staff Accountant and o ther special projects as directed by Finance leadership .

Qualifications & Skills

• 3 – 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a senior or lead role .

• Strong understanding of GAAP and excellent problem-solving skills ; CPA or progress toward certification is strongly preferred.

• A drive for process improvement and attention to detail – ensuring mistake-free work in a highly repeatable and scalable way .

• Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Acumatica, NetSuite, SAP, or equivalent) and Excel.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills .

• Bachelor's degree in accounting , finance or related field .

Location

World Book maintains a hybrid work schedule with two days per week at the corporate headquarters located at 180 N. La S alle St., Suite 900, Chicago, IL 60601.

Compensation

$ 7 0 ,000 to $ 8 0 ,000 annual salary
