Education / Skills Required
The Medical Assistant is responsible for patient care under the direction of a physician or licensed healthcare provider. The Medical Assistant performs those direct care activities which are allowed to be delegated to unlicensed personnel under the New York State Education law Section , regulations, hospital policies and standards met by Nursing Services. Qualifications / Job Requirements:
- Must be high school graduate or equivalent work experience, including ability to read, write and comprehend medical terminology.
- Graduate from a Medical Assistant Program preferred
- 3 months experience in an physician office practice setting preferred
- Must possess a high level of interpersonal skills to interact with patients, patient's families, staff and management.
- Mus maintain professional appearance and personal conduct at all times
- Must be highly motivated, able to work outside the normal working hours as volume demands.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- As applicable, the individual has training, competency in attending to the special needs and/or behavior appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being given.
- Must possess the ability to collaborate with other health personnel.
- Must have strong organizational skills.
- Comprehension of medical terminology
- Holds certification for Basic Life Support or willing to perform within first month of hire
