Description

***Must have an active DOD Top Secret or active DOE Q clearance. Active, meaning the individual granted a clearance is briefed and currently occupies a position for which the clearance is required.***

Leidos is hiring a full-time Communications Specialist & Program Analyst to support NA 10, the Office of Defense Programs (DP) within the Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA). The successful candidate will provide direct support for managing, editing, and distributing all executive correspondence including congressional reports, inquiries, letters/memorandum, read-ahead materials, proposed remarks, and other strategic communications. You'll be in the center of all DP activity. You'll work daily in the DOE Forrestal Building in Washington, DC, although some telework options may be available, based on client needs and volume of classified work.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist the Deputy Administrator's Action Group (DAAG) and staff from the NNSA Executive Secretariat and DOE Executive Secretariat offices for reviews, concurrence, and signatures on policy and position papers, joint NNSA/DOE and Department of Defense (DoD) reports, and other decision documents awaiting executive review/action by the Deputy Administrator of Defense Programs (DADP), NNSA Administrator, or Secretary of Energy.
  • Assist program offices and subject matter experts with reviewing, editing, and developing materials, to include briefings, remarks, talking points, and other documentation supporting the NNSA Administrator, DADP, and other senior staff to ensure alignment with current policy.
  • Assist the DAAG in responding to actions, implementing communication and organizational processes, and preparing and reviewing documents, presentations, and speeches for the DADP.
  • Assist DAAG in developing clear, concise, and polished written products for review by key leaders in DP and across DOE/NNSA, as well as improving standard operating procedures for written communication.
  • Assist the Nuclear Weapons Council (NWC) staff with NNSA Executive Action Officer website management, document management and administration.
  • Monitor and review all incoming DP correspondence; make an initial determination of the scope of the subject matter and office of primary responsibility; and make office task assignments, track progress, and provide guidance on content and format. Assist in researching, identifying, and analyzing geo-political, technical, and economic issues that must be addressed in responding to correspondence.
  • Provide initial review of replies drafted by various components of DP, analyze written products for clarity, ensure conclusions reached are consistent with the facts presented, and recommend revisions. Assist in the preparation of correspondence for review/signature by NNSA senior leadership.
  • Work with the DAAG and DOE and NNSA Executive Secretariats to manage and track DP communications and monitor intra- and interagency coordination.
  • Collaborate with NNSA's Offices of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs and Communication to support congressional, intergovernmental, and public affairs activities as it relates to DP, including managing and supporting DP responses to Requests for Information (RFIs) by Members of Congress, senior Administration officials, and the public/media.
  • Manage control of classified documents produced by NA-10, NWC, and the nuclear security enterprise. Assist with classified material, property management, classified removable electronic media management, use control site coordination, accountability for Sigma 14 and 15 access, and vault custodian. Assist with records management

Required Qualifications;

  • Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of related work experience. Masters degree preferred.

  • Self-starter attitude and ability to follow correspondence requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to track and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience supporting DOE or NNSA programs; has an understanding of the Nuclear Security Enterprise.
  • Experience interacting with senior-level government officials and stakeholders, including an Executive Secretariat.

At Leidos, we don't want someone who "fits the mold"—we want someone who melts it down and builds something better. This is a role for the restless, the over-caffeinated, the ones who ask, "what's next?" before the dust settles on "what's now."

If you're already scheming step 20 while everyone else is still debating step 2… good. You'll fit right in.
