Warehouse Safety Officer

Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Officer responsible for maintaining a safe, compliant, and efficient warehouse environment through proactive hazard prevention, 6S implementation, equipment oversight, and employee safety training. This role ensures adherence to OSHA and environmental standards while driving continuous improvement in safety culture and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities1. Security Management and Inspection

• Conduct daily inspections of fire protection systems, safety doors, and emergency exits.
• Identify and rectify potential hazards promptly to prevent accidents.
• Organize fire drills and safety training to enhance employees' preparedness and awareness.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations related to material stacking, forklift operations, and charging areas.

2. Heavy Equipment Oversight and Safety Policy Development

• Oversee the proper use of heavy equipment such as cranes, forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, and order pickers, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and mechanical safety protocols.
• Develop and implement safety policies for warehouse operations including stocking, shipping & receiving, order fulfillment, and material handling.
• Train warehouse personnel on the safe operation of RF scanners, heavy lifting tools, and mechanical devices used in packaging and order picking.
• Monitor inventory control processes to prevent accidents caused by improper storage, stock movement, or handling practices.
• Manage documentation for safety incidents, conduct root cause analyses, and coordinate timely corrective actions.
• Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to ensure all employees are trained on OSHA standards and warehouse management system (WMS) safety features.
• Maintain accurate records of safety audits, equipment inspections, training sessions, and incident reports to ensure full compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.

3. 6S Management Implementation

• Promote and enforce on-site 6S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety) standards.
• Participate in weekly 6S audits, prepare comprehensive reports, and follow up on improvement actions.
• Support the Lean Department in improving visual management, signage, movement lines, and safety instructions.

4. Compliance and Audit Response

• Serve as the main point of contact for government inspections (fire protection, environmental, occupational safety, etc.).
• Organize and maintain safety, health, and environmental documentation.
• Provide accurate compliance materials and explanations during audits or reviews.

5. Training and Continuous Improvement

• Organize and conduct EHS training sessions covering PPE usage, emergency evacuation, and accident response.
• Establish a feedback and corrective action mechanism to ensure resolution of on-site safety issues.
• Regularly report safety indicators such as incident rates, rectification rates, and audit findings to management.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Safety Engineering, Logistics Management, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in EHS and/or 6S management within a warehousing or manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment such as cranes, forklifts (including reach trucks), pallet jacks, order pickers, and other material handling tools.
• Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, and fire protection standards.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Safety Administrator certification or relevant EHS training preferred.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 per hour
