Job Summary

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated caregiver for a 6 year old girl in NW Portland Looking for help weekends- schedule is open and flexible between the hours of 9am-5pm. Client is persistent, smart, a problem solver and good at puzzles. She enjoys being outdoors, playing in water, trampoline time and Peppa Pig. She is needing help with light toileting, expressing her wants/needs, using her communication device, and working on washing her hands at appropriate times. DSP should be able to keep pace with the client, be engaging, be patient, be caring and engage her in activities emphasizing communication and turn-taking. DSP who can drive is preferred but not required. There is no smoking or pets in the home .

Duties

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
  • Provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities and those experiencing dementia, ensuring their unique needs are met.
  • Foster a positive environment by encouraging social interactions and participation in community activities.
  • Maintain documentation of care provided, adhering to HIPAA regulations and resident rights.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Monitor and report any changes in residents' physical or emotional conditions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Engage residents in meaningful activities that promote cognitive function and emotional well-being.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a group home setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of dementia care practices is an asset.
  • Familiarity with resident rights and HIPAA regulations is essential.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients.
  • Compassionate nature with a commitment to providing high-quality care.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative when needed.
  • Previous experience as a nurse or in a healthcare-related field is a plus but not required.
