Overview

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Shop Technician to join our team, providing expert maintenance and repair services for heavy-duty diesel engines, industrial equipment, and farm machinery. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work with a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, cranes, and tractor-trailers, in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, hands-on experience with automotive diagnostics, and familiarity with various tools and systems essential for diesel engine repair and equipment maintenance.

Duties

  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, suspension components, and air brake systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, shocks & struts replacement, and brake repairs.
  • Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Fabricate parts or modifications using power tools, welding equipment, and hand tools as needed.
  • Operate heavy equipment including forklifts, excavators, cranes, and other industrial machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Repair and maintain farm machinery, industrial equipment, and vehicle fleets including tractor-trailers.
  • Perform alignments, HVAC servicing related to vehicle systems, and soldering tasks for electrical repairs.
  • Assist with assembly or disassembly of components during repairs or upgrades.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company policies through proper documentation and inspection.

Experience

  • Dealership experience or extensive background in automotive repair is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience working with heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, or farm machinery.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems, and electrical components.
  • Hands-on experience with automotive diagnostics tools and schematics interpretation.
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (including welding), soldering techniques, and maintenance procedures.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery including tractor-trailers and industrial equipment is advantageous.
  • Prior service technician or mechanic experience with customer service focus is a plus. This position requires a dedicated individual capable of heavy lifting when necessary and working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high safety standards. Candidates should possess a strong work ethic combined with technical expertise to ensure optimal performance of all equipment maintained or repaired.
