Our Fleet & Facilities team plays a vital role in keeping our equipment, vehicles, and operation running smoothly. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic who can jump in with confidence and help us maintain a safe, reliable, and efficient fleet.
Position Summary
The Diesel Mechanic will perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on company vehicles, including diesel trucks, small engines, trailers, and specialty equipment. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical expertise who enjoys problem-solving and takes pride in keeping essential fleet assets operating at their best.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on diesel trucks, gas vehicles, trailers, chipper trucks, and heavy equipment
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and complete repairs in a timely manner
- Conduct safety and compliance inspections; identify and correct issues proactively
- Manage repair logs, maintenance tracking, and parts inventory
- Coordinate with the Fleet & Facilities Manager regarding repair priorities and downtime
- Assist with equipment setup, shop organization, and facility upkeep as needed
- Ensure all work meets safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
Qualifications
Required:
- 4–7+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy equipment technician
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Experience working on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Valid driver's license
Preferred:
- CDL (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience with fleet operations or service in a commercial/industrial setting
- Prior experience maintaining arborist, landscaping, or construction equipment
- Welding or fabrication experience
- Supervisory or management experience
