Are you detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about helping businesses thrive? We are looking for a Payroll/Bookkeeping Specialist to join our team and provide top-notch accounting services to our clients.

What You'll Do:

  • Process full-cycle payroll, sales tax, general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, 1099 preparation, and financial statements

  • Use QuickBooks and Accounting CS to assist clients with daily transactions and resolve accounting issues

  • Prepare responses to IRS and State tax notices related to payroll and sales tax

  • Ensure all client deliverables are accurate and completed on time

  • Stay up-to-date with payroll and bookkeeping best practices through training and continuing education

  • Identify opportunities to provide additional services to clients

  • Maintain confidentiality of client and firm information

  • Support other client services as needed, including individual and business tax return preparation

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Accounting CS, QuickBooks, or related software

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle pressure in a positive and professional manner

  • Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills

  • Actively participates in organizational meetings and discussions

  • Strong desire to learn new skills

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and work independently or as part of a team

  • Ability to thrive in a changing work environment

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher preferred

  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to payroll, accounting transactions, 1099s, payroll tax returns, etc.

  • Past payroll and/or bookkeeping experience required; 3–5 years' experience providing payroll and/or bookkeeping services to clients preferred

  • Certification by the American Payroll Association and/or QuickBooks preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
