POSITION TITLE:ATTORNEY

JOB LOCATION: Sarasota – Workers' Compensation Department

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: J.D. from recognized law school accredited by the American Bar Association and a member of the Florida Bar. Must be highly organized, detail oriented and possess exceptional communication, analytical and writing skills.

SCHEDULE: Full-Time.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Workers' compensation insurance defense. Conduct legal research and analysis of applicable statutes. Develop strategies, evidence, and arguments in preparation for trial. Prepare a variety of legal documents such as discovery requests and responses, pleadings, subpoenas, and medical composites. Use computer programs, document management systems and other technology to enhance job performance. · Manage a caseload of workers' compensation defense files from inception through resolution. Conduct legal research and case law analysis relevant to each claim.

· Draft responsive pleadings, motions, stipulations, settlement documents, and other legal correspondence.

· Conduct discovery, including: preparing and responding to and requests for production. Taking depositions of claimants, medical experts, and other witnesses.

· Review and summarize medical records; prepare detailed medical composites and chronologies.

· Attend court appearances, including status conferences, mediations, pre-trials, and trials.

· Analyze and evaluate cases for risk exposures and settlement strategy.

· Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates, legal direction, and strategize on case handling.

· Maintain accurate time records in accordance with firm and client billing requirements.

Collaboratively work with partners, fellow associates, and staff on claims for effective resolution.
