Definition

Under direction performs work of moderate difficulty in general ledger and fixed asset accounting and reporting, account reconciliation, and related work as required.

Starting hourly rate | $ Months | $26.46

Examples Of Duties

Reconciles bank accounts, matured bonds/coupons, and Community Development loans to general ledger; reviews and enters general ledger journal entries; maintains chart of accounts.

Maintains fixed asset accounting system: records additions and deletions, computes depreciation, and prepares entries to record fixed asset transactions in general ledger; prepares schedules for inclusion in Comprehensive Annual Financial Report; confirms fixed assets on a rotating basis.

Maintains records and prepares legally mandated reports to satisfy HUD Public Housing requirements.

Maintains loan management system: sets up new loans; records payments and escrow disbursements; prints and distributes payment coupons and year-end payment summaries.

Updates statistical tables for inclusion in Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and bond offering statements.

Provides assistance to external auditors as required.

Performs account analysis and research projects as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting or closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must pass a background check as prescribed by the City of Davenport.

Must reside in Iowa or Illinois within two (2) years of hire and maintain residency throughout the duration of employment.

Knowledge and Skills

Considerable Knowledge of:

Generally accepted accounting principles.

Good Knowledge of:

Electronic data processing systems.

Modern office practices and procedures as they apply to accounting.

Considerable Skill in:

The use of office equipment.

Working skill in:

Analyzing accounting transactions and systems.

Identifying improper accounting procedures and practices and recommending improvement.

Preparing financial statements and reports.

Maintaining accounting records.

Establishing and maintaining good working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and other departments.
