General Production Operator

Summary:

Champion Strapping is seeking a motivated and dedicated General Production Operator to join our team as the company grows its footprint in the industrial packaging solutions market. With new and expanded manufacturing operations, the Company will be disrupting the status quo, providing a true growth opportunity in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a commitment to safety and company culture.

The main purpose of this position is to ensure the uninterrupted throughput of material within Champion Strapping. Your primary responsibility is to produce a quality product in a safe, productive, and profitable manner following the Production Run instructions. The Production Operator must work to be proficient in all aspects of the Production Line process.

This role will be based out of our Canal Winchester, OH location with an hourly rate of $20m - $22/hr, depending on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

o Meeting schedules

o Working within a team environment

o Ensuring all aspects of work is done with an eye to Safety, Quality, and Production, in that order

Daily Responsibilities:

o Verify Production Run Package information for accuracy

o Operate machinery and inspect finished products to ensure that they meet company and industry standards

o Assist operator with performing required verification checks and loading of raw materials

o Weigh, label, and package finished products to prepare for shipment

o Monitor and control machines on a daily basis to maintain daily and weekly production schedule

o Monitor, inspect, and maintain assigned machined and equipment for safe operation, operational efficiency, and/or any maintenance requirements

o Communicate timely and effectively with all employees, supervisors, and management

o Demonstrate good housekeeping and maintain a clean and safe work environment

o Responsible for following all safety policies and procedures.

o All other duties appropriate to the position as assigned or required by the supervisor

Minimum Requirements:

· high school diploma or equivalent job experience

· willingness to learn and gain proficiency in manufacturing equipment

· must be able to read Standard/Metric measuring tape, micrometer, and caliper

· must be able to perform basic mathematic calculations or Standard/Metric measurements

· must possess basic computer skills

· good verbal and written communication skills

· ability to read, understand, and comply with work directions, training manuals, and safety rules

· Must be willing and able to work under the following working conditions:

o Work consistently in a fast-paced environment

o Able to physically lift material up to 75 lbs

o Able to work overtime as required

Safety Requirements:

· PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) must be worn as required. This includes approved steel toe safety shoes at all times. PPE will also include Safety Glasses, arm guards or long-sleeved shirt, and full length pants. No loose-fitting clothing while operating any machinery. No loose jewelry.

· Ensure that co-workers work safely and report unsafe practices

· No equipment, tools, machinery will be used without authorization and training.

· Do not place hands or fingers near rolls during jogging operation to avoid pinch points.

· Workers must be alert to all forklift and crane traffic and movements in the plant areas.

· At no time will an employee walk under raised materials.

· All manual handling will be performed using proper safety techniques.

· Report all hazards, accidents, incidents, and near misses promptly to supervisor

· Comply with all Champion Strapping Safety Program Requirements. Lockout, Pre-Use Inspection, etc. as delineated in Health and Safety Manual and Employee Handbook

Champion Strapping is a manufacturer of steel strapping and seals as well as a distributor of plastic strapping and associated clips, buckles, and tools all utilized to secure steel strapping to the underlying products bound, stored, and transported.

As a key supplier to the industrial packaging market, we utilize automated and technologically superior methods of slitting, painting, and waxing steel coils into strapping-width cuts of steel that secure products in the most efficient, safe, and cost-effective manner. Our steel seals are continuously produced by running coils of steel through multiple machine presses at high speeds and strict tolerances.
