About Toole Design

Toole Design is the leading planning, engineering, and landscape architecture firm specializing in multimodal transportation. Since our start in 2003 as a single office in Maryland, we have expanded throughout the United States. Our talented team of planners, landscape architects and engineers are committed to delivering quality work that meets the needs of all people, regardless of age, ability, race or gender. We have been named a "best firm to work for" and have one of the lowest staff turnover rates in the industry. Every project our employees deliver directly and positively affects our communities. We are industry-leading experts, and we work hard to encourage a collaborative and team-oriented environment.

A Day in the Life of a Planner I

As a Planner you will be part of an interdisciplinary team that delivers multimodal transportation projects, with a focus on active transportation (bicycle, pedestrian, and micromobility). Our Seattle office serves all of the Puget Sound, Olympic, and Northwest regions, with current work for communities throughout the state of Washington. Additionally, Seattle staff have opportunities to contribute to projects from throughout the country, collaborating with leading national experts in active transportation. We work on multimodal corridor studies; Vision Zero, Safe Routes to School and Safety Action Plans; trails, greenways, and wayfinding plans; and Complete Streets and streetscape plans. We push ourselves and our clients to proactively think about equity every step of the way.

In the Planner I role, you will contribute to projects, lead analysis, represent Toole Design in project and stakeholder meetings, and reinforce our reputation as trusted experts. You'll work collaboratively with teams of planners, landscape architects, urban designers, and engineers. Typical types of project work you can expect include data analysis; production of maps, graphics, and presentations; community engagement; plan writing; and occasional field work.

We are targeting a salary range of $66,000-$78,000 for this position.

The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit or ferry. RapidRide lines C, D and E along with multiple local bus routes stop right in front, and Sound Transit light rail and multiple Sounder Commuter rail lines are a block from the office. Bike lanes are close by on 2nd and 4th avenues.
