DEFINITION:
Provides supervision and administrative support to teaching staff and children, provides ongoing communication with public and private agencies, and supports families.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures that all duties and responsibilities of the Lead Teacher are met in the absence of any Lead Teacher.
- Administrative:
- Responsible for scheduling staff in accordance with licensing requirements and site needs.
- Manage all aspects of employee relations for all teaching staff in the center, i.e. participates in pre-screening of potential employee, conducts orientation for all new employees, and recommends terminations.
- Responsible for maintaining enrollment at full capacity.
- Reviews performance of staff, substitutes, student teachers, and volunteers that is conducive for learning and job satisfaction/development for staff.
- Supervise, evaluate, counsel, and discipline all employees with regard to personal and professional conduct and performance.
- Responsible for meeting all licensing regulations, agency policies and procedures and Title 5.
- Responsible for review and oversight for accuracy of records including but not limited to: enrollment, meal applications, bank deposits, attendance cards, Center Track (web based enrollment management system), incident reports, staff supervision, meal counts, daily log records for infant and toddlers, curriculum, child observations/portfolios, and parent participation.
- Conducts monthly parent and staff meetings, and formalized in-service trainings according to staff development plan.
- Conducts quarterly Parent Advisory Council meeting.
- Monitor and manage staff schedule, attendance, vacation time, NovaTime (web based employee timekeeping system), etc., for efficient program operation.
- Maintains confidentiality of children, families and employees.
- Monitor facility service contractors (Ex: air conditioning, lawn care, building renovations, upkeep, etc.)
- Responsible for verification of the DRDP Tech accuracy and implementation.
- Keeps inventory orders and purchases site supplies as needed
- Participate in Monthly Operations Meetings
- Health and Safety
- Provides a pleasant, safe, and clean environment for children and staff that are conducive for learning and job satisfaction/development for staff.
- Assures that facility maintenance is completed in a timely fashion.
- Assures that fire and earthquake drills are conducted monthly.
- Maintains monthly health and safety checklist.
- Direct Service
- Over-sees the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for children according to Agency Standards and the Annual Self-Assessment.
- Using a team approach over-sees the implementation of individual goals and objectives that are set for each child through their IEP or developmental assessment.
- Work with Lead Teachers and FSA Clinic staff to observe, document, meet with families, and make referrals to appropriate services.
- Greets children, parents, staff and guests.
- Meets the individual needs and interests of children in relation to their cultural, social and economic background.
- Provides quality services to children and their families in accordance with NAEYC standards.
- Ensure compliance with all standards, agency philosophy, and Title V and Title 22 regulations.
- Work in classroom as needed.
- Financial
- Collect all childcare and other incidental fees.
- Verify accuracy of all deliveries.
- Operate the program within the confines of the budget and make recommendations in conjunction with budget planning processes.
- Submit any request for petty cash expenditures with original receipts for reimbursement.
- Maintain inventory records of supplies and equipment. Report any transferring, removal, discarding of any inventory item to CDC Administration.
- Conduct parent and FSA staff based fund raising efforts.
- Agency Promotion
- Work as a member of the agency team by promoting the mission and philosophy of FSA.
- Participates in activities that furthers own professional growth.
- Provides accurate program information. Gives tours of site and classrooms.
- Maintains and encourages professional, positive, constructive communication with children, families, and staff.
- Develops and maintains positive communication with public and private agencies (including school districts, regional centers landlords, etc.)
- Represents the Agency at community functions as needed.
- Assists other centers when requested.
- All other duties as assigned by Program Specialists, Child Development Program Administrator or Child Development Chief Operating Officer.

- Punctual and Regular Attendance
- All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/ or Program Administrator and Chief Operating Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.A. in Early Childhood Education, Human Development or related field and minimum 2 years teaching experience and 2 years of supervision experience documented and verified.
- Meet Title 5 and Title 22 requirements to qualify as a fully qualified site director including 3 units of administration and 3 units of infant care.
- Permit from the Department of Education at the Site Supervision level or Program Director level.
- Maintain a clear and active exemption-free status with Community Care Licensing for the duration of employment with FSA. (Department of Justice, FBI, and Child Abuse Index)
- Able to stand three to four hours per day and to sit on the floor as necessary.
- Completion of CCL Components 1&3.
- Ability to provide leadership, accept responsibility, work independently and set own goals in a professional manner.
- Ability to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously and able to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 18 years or older
- Completion of formal or informal education sufficient to assure the ability to read and write English and to communicate at the level requited for successful job performance.
- Background Fingerprint Clearance exemption free (Department of Justice, FBI, and Child Abuse Index).
- Pass a health screening, TB, and drug screening Clearance.
- Ability to work with disabled students.
- Valid California Driver's License or California ID and proof of Automobile Insurance.
- Current EMS approved pediatric CPR and First Aid Certificate (As required by Licensing). And responsible to maintain current certificate throughout the term of employment.
- Travel as needed to agency, community and state functions.
- Professional Self Development - Attend workshops, conferences, college classes, or in-service staff development opportunities as recommended and/or provided that enhances skills and knowledge in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, and as required to maintain the appropriate and required Child Development Permit and/or lead to degrees.
Licenses & Certifications:
Site Supervisor Permit or Program Director level.
Physical & Mental Demands:
- Ability to stand three to four hours per day and to sit on the floor as necessary
- Ability to bend, lift 40 pounds and carry out the physical duties associated with working with young children.
