A24 is seeking an attorney to join our Legal and Business Affairs team to provide support to all of our business groups. You should be a motivated self-starter with a strong interest in intellectual property, film and television distribution, and general corporate legal matters. This role will provide clear, efficient, and contextualized legal counsel to internal stakeholders across the company, with a focus on supporting business teams, enabling growth, and helping A24 continue to push creative boundaries. This role is based in Los Angeles or New York.
Initial Responsibilities
- Provide practical, day-to-day business and legal advice to internal teams across the company on a broad array of legal matters, including litigation, regulatory matters, intellectual property law, and corporate law
- Structure, draft, negotiate and manage a wide range of commercial agreements, such as vendor agreements, consulting agreements, and non-disclosure agreements, in support of A24's finance, operations, HR, marketing, distribution, home entertainment, and exhibition teams
- Partner closely with cross-functional teams—including marketing, distribution, and creative departments—to provide practical legal guidance during the ideation and execution of innovative campaigns and initiatives supporting audience engagement, brand development and the distribution of audio-visual content.
- Manage all legal aspects of the company's corporate transactions, including diligencing new business opportunities, investments and M&A
- Manage or actively participate in internal initiatives and committees relating to intellectual property, technology and AI
- Help develop and streamline legal processes and templates to support A24's fast-paced environment
- Establish and maintain key internal and external stakeholder relationships with regular, effective and timely communications concerning deal negotiation and business strategy
Qualifications
- J.D. Degree; Member in good standing of New York or California bar
- 6+ years of transactional experience (with at least 2 years in the corporate/transactional department of a major US law firm and 2 years working in-house at an entertainment, media or technology company)
- Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements with minimal supervision
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills across a wide range of seniority levels and styles in a fast-paced environment (including the ability to explain legal concepts to internal and external partners)
- Business-minded, collaborative, adaptable, and proactive approach
- Sound judgment, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
- Ability to pick up new concepts quickly and thrive in a fast-paced, creative environment
- Knowledge of intellectual property as it relates to entertainment
- Humble, diligent, resourceful

Our target salary range for this role is between $160,000 to $200,000. We do not use formal job titles internally and similarly named positions may have different compensation levels. Actual starting salary within the range will depend on various considerations, including: work experience, skills, specializations, and training. This role is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, including both cash and equity components, competitive healthcare, as well as other employee benefits.
