Job DescriptionThe Senior Manager, Outbound Logistics, is a key member of the Global Logistics team and reports to the Director of Logistics. This high-visibility role leads the North America domestic transportation strategy for the Water segment within Fortune Brands Innovations. The position oversees all daily transportation execution, process and system improvements, and the end-to-end management of a $50M+ transportation budget.
The Senior Manager serves as the primary point of contact for domestic transportation operations, the first escalation point for internal and external partners, and the leader of a team supporting multiple FBIN brands. The role focuses on delivering high service levels, optimizing cost performance, and driving continuous improvement across the logistics network.
This position is hybrid, requiring three days per week onsite at our Deerfield, IL office.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute domestic transportation and logistics strategies that support business goals and future growth.
- Lead logistics operational planning across assigned brands, ensuring alignment with FBIN's service and cost objectives.
- Represent Transportation in cross-functional initiatives involving process changes, systems enhancements, and new business requirements.
Operational Execution
- Manage all aspects of domestic transportation, including:
- Inbound and outbound shipment scheduling
- Routing guide adherence
- ASN submission and receipt
- Transit time reporting and updates
- OS&D management and performance
- TMS upkeep and related systems support
- Ensure full compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Identify process gaps and lead improvements to drive efficiency, automation, and service reliability.
Financial & Performance Management
- Own and manage a $50M+ domestic transportation budget.
- Perform monthly reporting, performance analysis, and continuous improvement planning.
- Monitor carrier KPIs; maintain parcel and trucking contracts; support Sourcing with RFP events to secure competitive rates and service.
Cross-Functional Engagement
- Communicate transportation processes, expectations, and performance clearly with Sales, Operations, Distribution, Customer Service, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate across Warehouse, Demand Planning, Sourcing, and Customer Service to ensure strong supply chain alignment.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of logistics professionals, building bench strength and developing future leaders.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and innovation.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related business field.
- Minimum 8 years of transportation/logistics experience with increasing responsibility.
- At least 3 years of leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of transportation, warehousing, demand planning, and related supply chain functions.
- Proven ability to develop, track, and report KPIs.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize efforts.
- Ability to cope with ambiguity and problem solve.
- Ability to make independent decisions based on sound rationale and alignment with FBIN's operational standards and goals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Ability to travel domestically.
- Experience with TMS (MercuryGate or Oracle OTM) and ERP systems (Oracle or SAP).
Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $107,000 USD - $165,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
