This position is funded for a specific purpose. The Sponsored Term appointment is like a probationary appointment. The position and the appointment will expire upon loss or reduction of state or federal funding, or when special project or program for which the position was created has been completed.
Why does the job exist?
The Medicaid Services Coordinator is responsible for managing all aspects of Medicaid-related activities, including eligibility tracking, service coordination, documentation, and reporting. This role requires strong proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and an understanding of IT processes. The Coordinator will actively support the integration of the EHR platform with Medicaid billing workflows.
How does it get done?
- Maintain and routinely update a Medicaid eligibility database.
- Ensure all eligible individuals are tracked and receive Medicaid-covered services.
- Coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to verify service delivery and eligibility status
- Work with clinical users to ensure documentation in the EHR supports Medicaid reimbursement.

Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or equivalent and six (6) months experience working in a hospital setting using medical terminology, processing and maintaining a medical records system, and/or use of Microsoft Office programs and hospital clinical software. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
