Job Summary
Apollos Water South is seeking a reliable and safety-minded Wastewater Technician. This role plays a key part in maintaining efficient plant performance by assisting with system monitoring, maintenance, sampling, and general plant upkeep. The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically inclined, and eager to learn the wastewater treatment process in a growing, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the daily operation and monitoring of wastewater treatment equipment including pumps, valves, aeration systems, clarifiers, and filtration units.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tanks, screens, filters, and other equipment to ensure proper function and regulatory compliance.
- Collect water and wastewater samples for laboratory testing; record readings such as pH, dissolved oxygen, and flow measurements.
- Support licensed operators in process adjustments and troubleshooting equipment or system issues.
- Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance tasks under supervision.
- Maintain accurate logs of work performed, readings taken, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure all work areas are kept clean, organized, and safe; follow all safety, environmental, and company policies.
- Assist with chemical handling and deliveries in accordance with OSHA and facility safety guidelines.
- Report abnormal conditions, malfunctions, or potential hazards to supervisory staff promptly.
- Participate in training to progress toward operator-level responsibilities and state licensing.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training in wastewater, mechanics, or environmental systems preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience in wastewater operations, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred (willing to train the right candidate).
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Ability to read and record operational data accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and environments.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds; stand, walk, climb ladders, and bend for extended periods.
- Available for overtime, weekends, and on-call rotations as needed.
Work Environment
- Industrial treatment facility with exposure to water, chemicals, noise, and moving equipment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $23.00 per hour
