Overview

Poughkeepsie Day School is seeking a part-time cleaner for our facility. This role will include cleaning the interior of the facility as well as occasional tidying up of outside common spaces. The cleaner will work closely with both the Facilities Manager and school administration to develop a manageable cleaning schedule, prioritizing high visibility and common spaces.

The position involves approximately 20 to 25 hours per week, with hours distributed between Monday and Friday according to the school calendar and the school's needs. Hours may vary with school events, and there may be opportunities for extra work.

The School Facilities Cleaner will help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across our campus. This role is essential to the smooth operation of our school and directly supports our students, faculty, and community.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean classrooms, offices, common areas, restrooms, and other campus facilities.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and perform general upkeep as needed.
  • Monitor cleaning supplies and report inventory needs.
  • Ensure all cleaning equipment is properly maintained and stored.

Qualifications:

  • Previous cleaning or custodial experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to lift and move moderate weights and perform physical cleaning tasks.
