About the Role:

As a CNC Operator in the manufacturing industry, you will play a critical role in producing precision parts and components by operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Your primary objective will be to set up, program, and run CNC equipment to manufacture high-quality products that meet exact specifications and tolerances. You will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings and blueprints to ensure accurate machining processes. Additionally, you will monitor machine performance, conduct routine maintenance, and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency. Your work will directly contribute to the overall success of the manufacturing process by ensuring timely delivery of defect-free products.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic understanding of CNC programming and machine setup.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in CNC operation or machining from a recognized technical institution.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software for programming CNC machines.
  • Knowledge of multiple CNC machine types including lathes, mills, and grinders.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience working in a lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up CNC machines by loading tools, materials, and inputting programming data according to job specifications.
  • Operate CNC machinery to produce parts with precision, adhering to quality standards and safety protocols.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine machining requirements.
  • Perform routine inspections and measurements using precision instruments to verify product accuracy.
  • Maintain and clean CNC equipment, performing minor repairs and adjustments as needed to ensure optimal operation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and quality control teams to resolve production issues and improve processes.
  • Document production activities, machine settings, and maintenance performed for record-keeping and compliance.

Skills:

The required skills enable the CNC Operator to accurately set up and run machines, ensuring parts are produced to exact specifications. Proficiency in reading technical drawings allows for precise interpretation of manufacturing requirements, which is essential for quality output. Familiarity with measuring tools is used daily to verify dimensions and maintain product standards. Preferred skills such as CNC programming and CAD/CAM software knowledge enhance the operator's ability to optimize machine performance and adapt to complex jobs. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills are critical for quickly resolving machine issues, minimizing downtime, and supporting continuous production flow.
