Job Summary:

The Software Engineer will architect and develop software for an electromagnetic positioning system. Must be recognized as having advanced knowledge in software development. The Developer will deploy software as part of a project team that results in a complete, ready to sell electronics based surgical navigation product by a) refining existing error minimization algorithms and translating to deployable code, b) formulating and developing software solutions to a wide range of complex navigation and system control problems, c) communicating status and results.

  • None.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop software for an electromagnetic positioning system.
  • The Developer will deploy software as part of a project team that results in a complete, ready to sell electronics based surgical navigation product.
  • Preparation of test protocols, reports and other documentation.
  • Recommend process and technology improvements.
  • Participate in requirements gathering and definition.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Required: BA, BS, or Master's degree in software engineering or related field. PhD preferred.
  • Required: At least 5 years' development experience. Medical device field preferred.
  • Proven experience developing complete software products.

Solid C / C# or similar programming experience.

  • Algorithm and/or user interface development experience.
  • Experience with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong documentation and writing skills.
  • Collaborates well with team members and functional area representatives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge best software development practices.
  • Software development, troubleshooting, documentation, and testing for medical devices.
  • Effective collaboration with other teams and functional departments to achieve project targets and objectives.
  • Generation and protection of intellectual property through innovation and proper use of procedures and documentation.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of current applicable software regulations and standards.

Physical Requirements / Work Conditions:

  • Ability to work in an office, engineering lab, and manufacturing support environments
  • May require occasional lifting of equipment up to 25 pounds
  • Frequent use of standard office equipment, including computers and engineering tools
