Overview

About the Role

The primary purpose of the Staff Nurse (Maternal Child) position is to administer total patient care based on individualized needs of assigned patients/families in accordance with professional nursing standards and evidence-based nursing. The Staff Nurse will utilize knowledge and demonstrate competency in Obstetrics, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Gynecology, Infertility, Gynecologic Oncology, Urogynecology, Urodynamics, Reproductive Choice, Pediatrics Lactation Counseling, and other related programs. Expected behaviors include assessment, planning, and implementation of nursing interventions and evaluation of the physical, psychological, and spiritual needs of the patient in pre-procedural, procedural and post-procedural phases of care.

The Staff Nurse demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform procedures in accordance with professional nursing standards in pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients in the Center of Obstetrics/Gynecology and Pediatrics. The Staff Nurse demonstrates the ability to plan and facilitate patient care in achieving optimal patient care goals in compliance with regulatory and departmental standards and demonstrates a working knowledge of University Hospital, TJC & DOHSS regulations. The Staff Nurse participates in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement endeavors, University Hospital continuing education and certifications.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Obtains health histories and provides assessments or screenings as indicated on assigned patients as outlined in the nursing standards.
  • Provides direct patient care to ensure proper implementation of medical/nursing plan of care.
  • Administers, monitors, and documents medications and immunizations in accordance with established UH or ACC policies and procedures.
  • Provides effective communication of all necessary information and/or unusual occurrences in accordance with established UH policies and procedures.
  • Documents all aspects of patient care via the electronic medical record and/or manual records as necessary in accordance with Nursing and UH standards.
  • Develops and maintains good human relations skills consistent with the principles of the Service Excellence Standards with employees, patients, medical staff, and visitors.
Qualifications

What You'll Bring

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current license to practice in the State of New Jersey/BSN preferred.
  • Current IV/Venous Access Device Certification required.
  • Be knowledgeable in Managed Care and Healthcare Industry trends.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
  • BLS (CPR) is required. Candidates lacking current BLS (CPR) Certification must obtain certification prior to start date of employment.

Preferred:

  • Two years' experience in Maternal – Child; Obstetrical and Gynecological specialties preferred, having worked in an Ambulatory Care Service/outpatient care setting.
  • ANA certification preferred.
  • Ambulatory Care Certification preferred.
  • Two years' experience in specialty procedures to include but not limited to: Fetal Monitoring, Non-Stress Testing preferred.
  • Lactation Counseling Certification (CLC) preferred.

Compensation

In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is UB/01D - $ $ $63.82 per hour. University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs. The expected salary range for this position is in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
