Job Overview
As a Procedure Scheduler, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgery center. You will be the first point of contact for patients seeking procedure appointments, and your organizational skills will help streamline the scheduling process. Your expertise in medical terminology and various electronic health record (EHR) systems will be essential as you coordinate procedures and manage patient information efficiently. What you'll do
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments for various medical procedures, ensuring optimal use of resources and time.
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
- Utilize EHR systems such as Practice Fusion and/or Mednet to document appointments and manage patient data.
- Conduct insurance verification to ensure coverage for scheduled procedures and assist patients with any questions regarding their benefits.
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness before procedures, including CPT coding and ICD-10 coding.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries via multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop care plans that meet individual patient needs while adhering to clinic protocols.
- Support front desk operations by performing clerical tasks such as filing, typing, and managing correspondence.
Experience
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or clinic environment is essential.
- Familiarity with medical billing, coding (ICD-9, ICD-10), and terminology is highly desirable.
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply to enhance communication with diverse patient populations.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Google applications are required; experience with health information management software is a plus.
- Excellent typing skills (including 10-key typing) and attention to detail are crucial for maintaining accurate records.
- Previous experience as a medical receptionist or in administrative support roles is preferred.
- Knowledge of pain management terminology is beneficial.
