Position Overview:
Family Promise of Greater Cleveland is a non-profit agency with a 30-year history of providing services to homeless families in Greater Cleveland. Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Assistant will ensure that the facility is properly always functioning. Additionally, the maintenance worker will perform general maintenance and other duties assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
- Repair, maintain and monitor all equipment and small cleaning appliances.
- Maintain the aesthetics of the exterior property, including snow and ice removal.
- Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
- Drives facility van and transport clients to and from appointments.
- Assist with moving furniture.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent
- Ability to walk, climb extended ladders, stretch, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance required
- Ability to operate a computer, check email and perform research for work related items.
Skills and Knowledge;
- Ability to read, understand, and execute written plans and directions.
- Customer service focused and detail oriented.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Professional attitude, demeanor, and work ethic.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
- Flexibility and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Familiarity with the population the agency serves.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk, stand, lift arms above head, lift to 75 pounds, climb, stoop, bend, crawl, work outside in inclement weather.
- Able to speak clearly in person and on the telephone. .
- Vision that enables person to read normal size print and handwritten notes; and distance and peripheral vision than enables person to monitor large space and identify concerns that require staff response.
Compensation:
- Pay: $15-20 per hour, commensurate with experience.
