David Taussig & Associates, Inc. ("DTA") currently has available an open Associate III position reporting to management in our Irvine, California office. This hybrid position is ideal for a professional with at least three years of financial experience and an interest in public finance who has a desire to develop a long-lasting, rewarding career with an industry leader. Candidate must reside in Orange County. Responsibilities will increase and include other tasks as the candidate gains experience in the position.

Duties and Responsibilities
Supports senior and executive staff in the implementation of projects related to municipal finance district formation and administration. The work to be assigned to the selected applicant will include but not limited to the following:
- Assist in implementing goals and objectives related to assigned functional area; adhere to schedules and methods for clerical, technical, financial, and accounting operations; prepare and comply with clerical and technical financial policies and procedures.
- Research, gather, and consolidate large quantities of financial data; and process the complex data needed to create reports for various reviews of information project managers need for submission to other departments, municipalities, and outside agencies.
- Ensure data integrity across all projects and submit critical product data with a high degree of accuracy, supporting public-facing documents, project content, program extracts, and reports.
- Participate in preparing and submitting the annual tax roll extension to ensure values are correct; verify tax rates to tax schedule; process changes to taxpayer assessment based on changes to tax code.
- Prepare and maintain spreadsheets and statistical records of parcel splits, which involve researching, verifying, calculating, estimating, and preparing reports for project managers for clients, municipalities, or outside agencies.
- Track and report property liens as it relates to delinquent taxes, track collection notices, liens filed, and vessel holds and releases.
- Apply County, State, and Federal regulations concerning financial and statistical transactions and reports; prepare financial and statistical reports for submission to County, State, and Federal agencies.
- Reconcile bank statements, record transactions, and input data into financial software applications.
- Perform technical and complex financial transactions in tandem with project managers and system administrators.
- Support and meet demanding project timelines and milestones using standard and proprietary tools and templates.
- Interface, communicate, and collaborate as a part of a cross-functional team to meet business objectives and deadlines.
- Handle client inquiries related to account information, activity, and balances in a professional manner.
- Drive best-practices and documentation in support of programs and processes.
The work to be assigned to the selected applicant will include the following:
Superior organizational and management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects, goals and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, environment;
Knowledge of taxes or accounting processes and their application to governmental financial transactions a plus;
- Ability to produce a consistent and quality work product every time including strong accuracy skills and demonstrating a superior attention to detail;
- Critical thinker that can take initiative and recommend and implement ideas;
- Excellent writing, editing, listening, and verbal communication skills; and
- Conducts other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of a 3.5 GPA.
- Strong academic performance with an emphasis in economics, accounting, mathematics, finance, statistics, or another quantitative field.
- Three years of experience in finance, accounting, or another quantitative field (preferable, but not required).
- Strong analytical and statistical analysis capabilities, including attention to detail.
- Advanced computer skills, including Word and Excel. Data entry experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to quickly grasp new concepts.
- Ability to meet project commitments under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
