Underwriter, Builder's Risk

Chubb is seeking a production underwriter in the Major Accounts Inland Marine group for the New York Region. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of underwriting experience in Builder's Risk business and willing to learn other produce lines in the Inland Marine portfolio.
Key Accountability:
Responsible for profitable growth of an Inland Marine book of business, mainly Builder's risk, but including Contractor's Equipment, Homebuilders, and Engineered Risk.
In addition, this individual will be responsible for overseeing broker/agent relations and collaborating with Chubb retail branches for purposes of business and market development.
Ability to travel at least 10-15% of the Calendar Year to support other regions that are managed by the NY team as well as Insured meetings and site visits.
Major Job Functions:
- P&L accountability for the individual's Inland Marine book of business, premium, its profitability, growth, and retention results.
- Upholding underwriting quality standards including ensuring appropriate file documentation relating to final underwriting decision.
- Working across divisions and MSL team to coordinate marketing and targeting within the territory.
- Supports and collaborates on marketing initiatives, assisting with new product launches and local marketing campaigns.
- Collaborates with branches to educate agents on products, services, as well as underwriting strategies and product marketing.
- Leads and/or participates in broker/agency analysis and planning. Develops and executes an effective broker/agency strategy to grow the business.
- Willing to seek and grow non-core agents/brokers in the region.
- Wiling to work with Commercial Inland Marine team as needed.

- Underwriting Acumen: Demonstrates technical knowledge of Builder's risk, competitors, and marketplace.
- Relationship Management: Demonstrated ability to build strong key account relationships and manage customer expectations in changing market conditions. Proven history promoting business retention and profitable growth.
- Sales and Marketing: Working knowledge of Inland Marine products and marketplace.
Demonstrated ability to market and sell Chubb's brand. Proven prospecting skills and effective use of sales and marketing tools. Agency Management: Ability to build strong agency relationships and manage expectations of brokers and insureds. - Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with multiple business units, branch, and Home Office stakeholders. Demonstrates effective consultation and partnership skills.
- Communications: Demonstrated ability to manage communications and awareness effectively between various parties of interest, including brokers/agents, Branches, Product Managers and Senior Management.
- Technology: skilled in word, excel and comfortable with web-based platforms.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 - 3 years of underwriting experience
- Candidate must be able to demonstrate success in marketing, producer management, new business development, and the ability to successfully negotiate on all levels with both internal and external partners.
- Teamwork, communication, and negotiation skills required. Candidate will need a solid background in risk analysis and experience with complex accounts.
- Possess a high degree of proficiency with the underwriting process and partner effectively with an Underwriting Associate.
- Candidate must have exemplary ability to effectively interact with all levels of customers and coworkers.
- Knowledge and proficiency with technical issues, compliance, coverage, products and pricing strategies expected.
- The ability to be creative and adaptable in a changing business environment.
- Sound decision making skills required.
The pay range for the role is $74,100 to $125,900. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our careers website. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
