Job Summary
As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will play a vital role in our financial operations by ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments. You will collaborate with various departments to maintain smooth financial workflows while adhering to established accounting principles and compliance regulations. Your attention to detail and analytical skills will contribute significantly to our financial integrity and operational efficiency.
What you'll do
- Process vendor invoices and ensure proper approvals are obtained before payment.
- Maintain accurate records of all accounts payable transactions, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and answer inquiries related to accounts payable.
- Prepare and process payments using various accounting software, such as QuickBooks, Paychex, or Workday.
- Conduct regular audits of accounts payable transactions to ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) regulations.
- Assist in month-end closing activities by preparing reports related to accounts payable and general ledger reconciliation.
- Support payroll management processes as needed, ensuring accuracy in data entry and compliance with internal policies.
Basic qualifications
- Strong understanding of financial concepts, including double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and general ledger accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft) and HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Kronos).
- Excellent data entry skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience in public accounting or corporate accounting environments is preferred.
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with tax experience, benefits administration, or governmental accounting practices.
- Strong analytical skills for effective problem-solving and decision-making.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of organization.
- Experience with non-profit accounting or technical accounting is a plus.
