Every member of this team will be expected to use AI directly in their own work, automate workflows, and drive a data-driven, CI/CD, and automation-heavy culture that delivers measurable business outcomes.

About the Role:

As Head of Data, you will define and implement our data strategy and architecture, building the foundation for AI-driven transformation and data-driven decision making. You will establish a modern cloud-native platform, instill a "data as a product" culture, and ensure data is reliable, trustworthy, and accessible across the organization.

This is a scrappy, hands-on leadership role in a startup-style team within a stable business. You will balance speed with governance, ensuring the data platform serves both AI/ML and analytics/BI use cases. You will champion automation, quality, and observability to make data products usable by everyone, from frontline staff to executives.  You will work closely with the existing data and analytics organization to align on strategy, tooling, and data architecture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect a modern data platform (e.g., data lakehouse, master data management, PIM, CMS)
  • Lead data engineering, governance, and quality initiatives
  • Partner with Product/Design and AI leaders to deliver data products in key areas across all aspects of the business
  • Ensure the data platform supports analytics/BI use cases alongside AI/ML
  • Implement data observability, lineage, and quality monitoring
  • Embed data-driven decision-making into daily workflows across the organization
  • Automate data pipelines and quality checks to maximize reliability
  • Engage business stakeholders to ensure data products are understood, trusted, and adopted
  • Work with third-party service providers to ensure transparent access and integration of their data into our systems
Requirements
  • 6+ years in data architecture/data-centric engineering leadership roles
  • Experience with modern data platforms (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake), cloud-native data stacks and storage patterns (AWS, Azure, GCP), the use of data lakes and lakehouse (Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hudi), and Modern ELT/ETL orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow, Dagster, Prefect)
  • Experience with Master Data Management (MDM), PIM, and reference data handling
  • Familiarity with MLOps and ML lifecycles (feature stores, training, deployment, and monitoring)
  • Industry experience within B2B Distribution, supply chain, or MRO is strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to instill data-driven culture and processes
