POSITION: Training Specialist
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

- Provide a worker registry for consumers of IHSS that recruits, screens and refers available home care providers to eligible IHSS consumers
- Provide access to training for consumers and providers

Public Authority Services is a nonprofit organization that provides the above services, among others, to help aged and disabled individuals remain living safely in their homes.
ABOUT THE TRAINING DEPARTMENT:
The Public Authority Services Training department offers free training opportunities to IHSS caregivers (providers) and care recipients (consumers). The common goal is to support care providers with knowledge and basic skills necessary for administering quality in-home care services and prevent injuries. Training opportunities and materials are also provided to IHSS consumers to support them in their role as the employer of their care providers.
The Training Specialist will assist the Training Supervisor/Manager in further development and improvement of classes and lesson plans for in-home care providers and consumers. This role will also assist the supervisor with semester schedules, develop training materials and educational articles, provide information and clarification to care recipients and providers via telephone, and lead a few non-medical training classes per semester, as well as other tasks related to training.

- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Self-starter who exercises independent judgement to accomplish department goals
- Interest in working with elderly and disabled individuals and their caregivers
- Bilingual Spanish, Vietnamese, and/or Mandarin desirable
- Ability to travel using own vehicle within Santa Clara County to facilitate training sessions; Valid California Driver's License.
- Follow Sourcewise Standards of Conduct
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties below are representative of the range of responsibilities expected of the Training Specialist but are not intended to be all-inclusive:
- Respond to telephone and email inquiries from IHSS consumers and care providers interested in training opportunities provided through PA.
- Assist in development and facilitation of training classes and materials for care providers and consumers that may be delivered in person or through printed materials, videos, or online.

- Share information and guidance with individuals interested in joining Sourcewise/PA programs or services.
