Position Summary
Bauer is seeking a detail-driven and highly organized Receiving Inspector to execute all aspects of the Receiving Inspection process for CFM56 and V2500 engine accessories in accordance with FAA, EASA, and OEM requirements.
This role is responsible for the initial airworthiness gatekeeping function at Bauer—verifying identity, documentation, traceability, configuration, and capability for every article entering the repair station. The Receiving Inspector ensures that only conforming, properly documented, and supported articles enter Work in Process (WIP), and is foundational to Bauer's quality, traceability, and regulatory compliance.
Success in this position requires a disciplined, procedure-driven approach, precise documentation skills, and the ability to identify discrepancies in incoming articles or records. As Bauer prepares for dual FAA/EASA release capability, the Receiving Inspector will support enhancements to incoming documentation validation and foreign authority compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory & Documentation Verification
- Perform Receiving Inspection in accordance with Bauer's Receiving Inspection Procedure and applicable regulations.
- Verify incoming release documentation including FAA Form 8130-3, EASA/UK/TCCA/CAAC release certificates, customer paperwork, and teardown reports (as supplied).
- Confirm all documentation is valid, complete, and consistent with identity markings on the article.
- Identify missing, incomplete, or questionable documentation and initiate quarantine or NCR as required.
Identity, Traceability & Configuration Control
- Verify part number (P/N), serial number (S/N), nomenclature, and quantity against purchase orders and customer instructions.
- Confirm the article's configuration—model, series, change level, and effectivity—matches the applicable CMM and Bauer's capability list.
- Ensure all articles meet Bauer's traceability requirements prior to induction into WIP.
- Identify and segregate any suspected unapproved parts (SUPs) following Bauer's quality procedures.
Capability, Effectivity & Technical Data Validation
- Confirm that incoming articles are within Bauer's FAA Part 145 ratings and its current capability list.
- Validate that current and applicable CMMs, service documents, and OEM technical data are available prior to acceptance.
- Identify any mismatches between article data plate configuration and CMM effectivity tables.
Physical Receiving & Condition Assessment
- Inspect shipping containers, packaging, and the article for shipping or handling damage.
- Document as-received condition, including any visible dents, broken hardware, corrosion, leaks, or anomalies.
- Note and report all damage to internal stakeholders and external customers as required.
Acceptance, Rejection & Quarantine Management
- Render acceptance decisions based on all documentation, capability, condition, and effectivity checks.
- Apply appropriate status tags (Accepted, Rejected, Quarantine).
- Properly segregate nonconforming, suspect, or quarantined articles.
- Initiate NCRs in accordance with Bauer's NCR/MRB procedures for discrepancies in identity, condition, documentation, or effectivity.
Work Order Creation & Induction into WIP
- Create work orders/travelers for accepted articles and enter complete configuration data into Bauer's system.
- Record as-received condition, customer work scope, and applicable CMMs.
- Ensure proper WIP tagging and move the article to the appropriate staging or disassembly area.
Support for Quality System & Foreign Authority Compliance
- Provide objective evidence for FAA, EASA, TCCA, CAAC, and UK CAA oversight activities related to Receiving Inspection.
- Assist the Chief Inspector in improving procedures, traceability tools, and documentation systems for dual-release operations.
- Participate in internal audits and process reviews related to incoming article control.
Preferred Qualifications
Education & Credentials
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate preferred; not required.
- Eligible for FAA Repairman Certificate (if needed for role authorization).
- Human Factors, Hazmat, and FAA Drug & Alcohol Program compliance training, or ability to complete immediately.
Experience
- Experience in an FAA Part 145 repair station or similar aviation maintenance environment highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience performing receiving, acceptance, or preliminary inspection functions.
- Familiarity with CFM56 or V2500 engine accessories highly preferred.
- Experience reviewing FAA/EASA/TCCA release certificates and understanding traceability requirements highly preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Quantum Control is a plus.
Systems & Technical Skills
- Ability to interpret OEM CMMs, ATA references, release documents, IPCs, and capability lists.
- Working knowledge of regulatory documents such as 14 CFR Parts 43 and 145, MAG requirements, and OEM maintenance data.
- Skilled in identifying discrepancies, configuration mismatches, and improper documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic record systems.
