Structural Engineer — LATAM-Based (Bogotá Preferred)

Confidential Engineering & Technology Company

About the Company

Innovation dies when it's trapped in a spreadsheet. We empower structural engineers to spend more time thinking and less time doing by replacing outdated, manual workflows with modern cloud-based design tools. Our structural calculators already power 50,000+ projects per year worldwide, and we are only getting started.

We are building the future of structural design by transforming complex engineering workflows into intuitive, best-practice digital tools used by thousands of engineers across the globe. If you're passionate about solving real-world engineering problems, creating tools that engineers love, and shaping the next generation of design automation, this is the ideal environment.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Structural Engineer based in Colombia (Bogotá preferred) or the broader LATAM region to join our fast-growing engineering team. This role blends hands-on structural engineering with the opportunity to help build, test, and ship structural calculators and digital workflows used globally.

You'll collaborate closely with senior technical leadership and a 12+ person engineering team, contributing to high-quality structural deliverables while influencing the digital tools that power modern engineering.

This is a full-time, high-impact role with long-term growth opportunities — including potential pathways into customer success leadership or regional calculator teams as the company expands.

Your Impact
  • Ship calculators fast: Build and improve tools for foundations, retaining walls, RC/steel/timber systems, and more using our no-code calculator builder.

  • Empower engineers at scale: Convert complex engineering standards into intuitive, reliable digital tools.

  • Amplify your expertise: Create calculators used by thousands of engineers; iterate based on real customer feedback.

  • Champion accuracy: Own QA, review outputs, write tests, and identify edge cases to ensure trust and reliability.

  • Take radical ownership: Operate like a hybrid technical/product partner alongside product, dev, and customer success teams.

  • Innovate constantly: Help design new workflows, tools, and AI-powered helpers that reduce design cycles from hours to seconds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce structural designs, plans, detailed drawings, and full calculation packages.

  • Perform structural analyses for steel, concrete, timber, frames, foundations, retaining structures, and more.

  • Apply and interpret local and international building codes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  • Transform architectural concepts into efficient and code-compliant structural solutions.

  • Participate in engineering reviews, QA/QC, documentation, and internal workflow improvements.

  • Collaborate with a high-performance engineering team operating within a tech-driven environment.

  • Contribute to the development, testing, and validation of structural calculators and design tools.

What You'll Bring

We are hiring across varying levels of seniority. Strong candidates typically have:

Technical Skills
  • 2–4+ years of hands-on structural engineering experience.

  • Deep experience with steel and concrete design, including independent calculations and drawing production.

  • Familiarity with U.S. engineering codes and standards (ASCE, ACI, AISC, etc.).

  • Proficiency with tools like Excel or Mathcad; interest in Python/JS is a plus (not required).

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (Master's welcome but not required).

  • Must be a specialized structural engineer, not a generalist civil engineer or architectural drafter.

Mindset & Soft Skills
  • Excellent communication and technical clarity.

  • Strong attention to detail and quality control.

  • Proactive, growth-oriented, and ownership-driven mindset.

  • Experience leading projects or mentoring teammates is highly valued.

  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, tech-enabled engineering environments.

Compensation & Perks
  • Salary: COP $100,000,000–$130,000,000 annually (experience-based)

  • Bonus: Team bonus up to 5%

  • Equity: Participation in a fast-growing, profitable SaaS platform

  • Benefits:

    • Full-time position with Contrato a término indefinido (full Colombian benefits)

    • High-performance equipment package

    • Annual learning & development budget

    • A culture focused on speed, innovation, and shipping

  • Location: Bogotá office (15-minute walk from Calle 127 Transmilenio)

    • Flexible short-term remote options available

How to Apply
  • Submit your CV or LinkedIn profile (cover letter optional).

  • Complete two short screening questions to help accelerate the process.

  • Short asynchronous video or Loom task (max 3 minutes) for shortlisted candidates.
