The position of EMS Regional Manager is assigned to the Maine Department of Public Safety, as part of the office of Maine EMS. The office of Maine EMS, in collaboration with the Maine EMS Board, is the Regulatory and Licensing Authority for the State of Maine Emergency Medical Services System. This is a new position in the department, and the position reports directly to the Director of Maine EMS.
The position will work primarily in EMS Region 4 (Aroostook County) to provide technical guidance and support to Maine EMS licensed agencies. The position will have responsibility for drafting and implementing State EMS statutes, rules, and policies related to regional EMS agencies, quality improvement processes, and continuing education hours in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders; planning, designing, and coordinating the delivery of EMS education; coordinating and providing quality improvement and assurance feedback to local EMS agencies; working with the Regional Council to establish annual education and quality improvement and assurance goals; reporting on the progress of education and quality improvement and assurance goals; assisting in reviewing local special device requests; assisting in the development of new lines of service; inspecting EMS vehicles and agency applicant locations; participating in Maine EMS office staff meetings, trainings, and work sessions; assisting with planning, monitoring, evaluation, and implementation of regional EMS plans; and providing technical assistance to EMS providers, hospitals, and municipalities within a designated region.
Primary responsibilities include:
• Provide technical guidance and support to regional EMS Agencies
• Plan, Design and Coordinate delivery of Regional EMS Education
• Establish EMS Education and QI/QA Goals for Region
• Inspect new vehicles and review agency applications
• Monitor, evaluate and implement Regional EMS Plans
• Collaborate with EMS Regional Council, local EMS providers and Regional Hospitals to facilitate local special device requests; and assist in the development of new lines of EMS service
Skills or knowledge required:
• Knowledge of EMS Systems -Including CCT, Community Paramedic, Behavioral Health transports and hospital interfaces
• Knowledge of EMS Education and training methods
• Familiarity with MS Office Suite
• Strong Written and Oral Communication Skills
• Ability to plan, set and deliver regional EMS system metrics and deliverables
• Ability to attend weekly and monthly meetings, both remote and in person.
• Knowledge of EMS QI/QA methods and Just Culture in Healthcare
Minimum qualifications:
• Maine EMS licensed Instructor/Coordinator or obtain within 1yr of hire
• years of EMS experience at any license level (Paramedic preferred)
• Ability to articulate understanding of key issues facing EMS industry
• 2+ yrs EMS management preferred
Residence in EMS Region 4 (Aroostook) preferred
