Youth Development Specialists Compensation: Starting at $19.50 per hour DOE

The Boys & Girls Clubs of South San Luis Obispo County is seeking applicants to be part of our South SLO team. We provide young people with a safe place to go before and after school. We seek to ensure that all kids, especially those who need us most, have a positive and enriching experience, putting them on the path to success. Primary Function: Implements youth development activities in the areas of STEM, academic and physical education enrichment programs. Duties also include but are not limited to: creating lesson plans, facilitating enrichment classes, supervising youth all while being a positive role model.

Qualifications:

  • Available Monday through Friday for our Before and/or After School Programs
  • Available Monday through Friday for our out-of-school programs (Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring Breaks) to meet the needs of our business
  • This is an in-person; year-round position
  • Available to attend our mandatory trainings
  • Reliable transportation with insurance required; ability to get to all our Club sites
  • Experience working with children preferred
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems preferred
  • Ability to communicate with youth and peers preferred
  • Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth preferred
  • Ability to organize and supervise youth members in a safe and fun environment preferred
  • Can furnish proof that you are over 18 years of age
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid certifications current
  • Current TB Test
  • Complete the NCLB Test or Proof of 60 College Units
  • Ability to pass a rigorous background check
