Solebury School (New Hope, PA) seeks a qualified and motivated Facilities/Maintenance Manager to overseemaintenance of the campus and facilities operations, with a focus on customer service. The Facilities Department plays a key role in creating and maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors on campus. This position reports directly to the Director of Facilities, leads the daily operations of the maintenance and grounds teams, and serves in a hands-on working role.

The manager will be responsible as the backup to the facilities on-call should assistance be needed. A qualified candidate has experience in a variety of Trades and can fill in any gaps needed to fulfill the team's changing needs. Interviews will start the week of January 26, with an anticipated hire date of early February.

Essential Functions

Operations & Maintenance:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the facilities department, by managing the maintenance team and coordinating with the Director of Facilities, to ensure campus needs are timely met and to expectations
  • Lead the maintenance staff to perform troubleshooting, implement repairs, and complete maintenance tasks, both as part of a team and independently
  • Tasks may include painting, electrical repairs, plumbing, carpentry, space remodels, and heating and ventilation systems maintenance
  • This role requires both a hands-on approach in completing tasks, as well as the ability to delegate tasks based on team members' specialities
  • Respond to emergency calls for maintenance/repairs and dispatch facilities staff as needed. Work with service providers to resolve situations and communicate with those impacted.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Facilities to fulfill purchasing needs, keeping appropriate inventory of maintenance supplies & equipment, considering budgetary constraints
  • Comply with all safety and health regulations, as well as staying current with building codes
  • Participate in response to weather events, such as snow removal and flood recovery

Supervisory:

  • Supervise and manage the School maintenance & grounds staff (5 positions in total)
  • Oversee and manage the School work order system (Operations Hero)- including ensuring the timely completion of all work order requests and preventative maintenance scheduled, coordinating staff deployment for ticket response, and completing associated administrative duties
  • Work closely with the Custodial Manager to ensure daily needs are met with excellent service
  • Maintain a high standard of work quality, including setting the example and helping other staff to maintain that standard
  • Help to advance employee and team skill sets by teaching and training various Trades
  • Adaptability to change hours, if needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications (required):

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Past experience as a team lead or Managerial experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems (including relevant equipment and tools) preferred
  • Ability to work in a team and alone, with the ability to follow instructions from supervisors
  • School experience, especially with independent schools, preferred
  • Able to use and navigate computer needs such as Word, Excel, Google calendars, work order systems and Building Automation Systems

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • The ability to exert significant physical effort in heavy work, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials weighing 20 to 50 pounds; may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Able to stand or walk for extended periods; able to bend, kneel, stoop, & lift or move heavy equipment.
  • Willingness to work outside in inclement weather
  • Tasks are regularly performed with potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as strong odors, fumes, dust, wetness, humidity, machinery, vibrations, temperature and noise extremes, disease, pathogenic substances, and toxic/poisonous agents

  • Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to pass a driver's test in school van
