Education
- High School education or equivalent.
- Two years previous experience in health care.
Experience / Qualifications
- Epic system expertise including patient charge processing.
- McKesson HSS eRequisition system expertise.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software suite.
Position Summary
The Revenue Cycle Specialist assists the Director of OR Throughput in maintaining accurate and timely flow of charges incurred by patients in the Operating Room.
Responsibilities Include
- Picks up daily surgery and procedure records for all OR rooms after they have been logged.
- Reviews OR room time and anesthesia time for accuracy.
- Extracts and compiles charges for regular and special items used.
- Participates in the charge audit process with the business system analyst team.
- Reviews vendor purchase requisitions for accuracy.
- Ensures contract pricing compliance.
- Initiates eRequisition purchase order requests.
- Maintains active dialogue with other hospital departments assisting with clarification of Surgery charges and adjustments.
- Coordinates tissue tracking data management.
- Processes implant inventory orders.
- Participates in inventory auditing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
Requires sitting for long periods of time, also stooping, bending, standing, and stretching. Must have manual dexterity for typing and computer data entry. Able to work under a stressful environment, work independently, capable of making sound decisions, be detail oriented, alert, and self-motivated. Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs., carry and lift up to 20lbs.
Threshold Requirements
These threshold requirements are required and completed yearly basis.
Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation.
- TB/PPD Surveillance Program.
- Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).
