We are seeking a Used Car Inventory Manager to lead our pre-owned inventory process and maximize profitability across our retail and wholesale channels. As a Used Car Manager, you will take the helm of our pre-owned vehicle department, driving sales and ensuring an exceptional customer experience. You'll lead a dynamic team, manage inventory, and develop strategies to maximize profitability while maintaining high standards of customer service. Your expertise in automobile sales and negotiation will be key as you engage with customers and foster lasting relationships. What you'll do
- Oversee all used car inventory operations — acquisition, appraisal, pricing, reconditioning, and retail merchandising.
- Collaborate with the Pre-Owned Director and General Manager to ensure optimal inventory mix by model, mileage, and price segment.
- Manage online listings and syndication across dealer platforms (Dealertrack, CRM, CarGurus, AutoTrader, etc.).
- Maintain target stock levels and aging reports; take proactive measures to rotate or wholesale slow-moving units.
- Coordinate with the service and detailing departments to ensure vehicles are front-line ready on time.
- Track market trends, competitor pricing, and auction performance (Manheim, SmartAuction, etc.) to adjust pricing strategy.
- Ensure all inventory meets company standards for condition, paperwork, and compliance.
- Train sales staff on product knowledge and vehicle highlights.
- Report weekly performance metrics (turn rate, average days in stock, gross per unit, etc.) to leadership.
Experience
- 3+ years of experience managing pre-owned or wholesale inventory in an automotive dealership.
- Proven track record in vehicle acquisition and retail pricing optimization.
- Strong knowledge of market valuation tools (vAuto, KBB, MMR, Black Book).
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Bilingual (English/Chinese) a plus.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
