About Us

A Data Scientist position is available immediately in the department of Neurology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in NY. The position will support development and growth of the inaugural Division of Brain and Cognitive Health Technology, which will support cutting-edge research on the development, validation, and dissemination of new technologies for cognitive monitoring, neuropsychological assessment, and risk prediction in neuropsychiatric disorders. This will include work with digital technologies that support scalability, accessibility, and the engagement of diverse communities, as well as applications of multi-level modeling, machine learning, and/or AI for clinical prediction and estimation of novel dynamic phenotypes related to brain health and disease risk. The Data Scientist will report to Division Director Laura Germine, who is the creator of the TestMyBrain digital research platform and a PI of the newly funded Open Measurement Network Initiative for AD/ADRD (NIA U24) and Trajectories of Risk and Cognitive Change in Mental Health (NIMH UF1) projects. The Data Scientist will be responsible for analysis of datasets related to these projects as well as recently completed research studies.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

· Develop and implement statistical and computational models to analyze large-scale behavioral, clinical, and digital phenotype data

· Design and maintain data pipelines for ingestion, processing, quality control, and harmonization of longitudinal and multi-modal datasets

· Lead or support analyses using advanced statistical, AI, and machine learning methods for prediction and modeling of dynamic cognitive phenotypes

· Collaborate with investigators, data engineers, and software developers to integrate models into scalable digital health research platforms

· Define and enforce data standards, reproducibility, and documentation practices (data dictionaries, codebooks, analysis scripts)

· Ensure compliance with data security and privacy standards (e.g., HIPAA)

· Mentor and train staff or trainees in quantitative methods, data management, data science workflows, and reproducible research practices

QUALIFICATIONS

· PhD in Biostatistics, Informatics, Computer Science, Cognitive Neuroscience, or a related quantitative field

· Strong programming skills in R and/or Python, with proficiency in SQL or equivalent database query languages

· Demonstrated expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, or AI applications to biomedical or behavioral data

· Experience working with longitudinal or time series data, particularly in clinical or cognitive neuroscience contexts

· Familiarity with cloud-based or high-performance computing environments preferred

· Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills

· Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary, multi-site research environment
