As a CNS for Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care we have an exciting opportunity for an advanced practice nurse to take a leadership role in designing, implementing and evaluating patient-specific and population-based programs of care at the unit based and system level.

  • You will work on a peer level with other Critical Care CNS, Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioners and Associate Directors.
  • Assume the role of leader, clinician, researcher, educator, patient care advocate, consultant, inter and intradepartmental liaison, and resource professional.
  • Interact directly with patients, families, and groups of patients to promote health or well-being and improve quality of life characterized by a holistic perspective in the advanced nursing management of health, illness, and disease states.
  • Maintain competency skills including the ability to deliver care to special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds.

Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
  • Master's degree in clinical nursing specialty required
  • Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree preferred.
License/Certification Requirements:
  • Valid California Registered Nurse license.
  • CNS certification by the CA Board of Registered Nursing.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • National Specialty certification required (i.e. CCRN)
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years recent acute RN experience in specialty
  • Cardiac Surgical ICU specialty experience preferred.
  • Meets specialty specific clinical competencies for assigned area
