Platform Engineering Manager

Los Angeles, California, United States TixTrack Full time $165,000 - $195,000

At TixTrack, we support our clients by creating superior ticketing solutions for performing arts and cultural institutions through a combination of modern technology, beautifully simple design, and the art of listening.

Founded in Los Angeles, we are a small, but growing team of hardworking, highly motivated individuals. Our core product, Nliven, is a real-time platform that helps venues manage ticket sales efficiently while creating a more engaging buying experience for customers. With a presence across both the US and UK, and trusted by key players on Broadway and the West End, we are passionate about our work and driven to innovate with our customers to solve current and future challenges with new solutions.

We are transforming our engineering culture to align with an Empowered Teams model, embracing Continuous Delivery and focusing on building capabilities to drive higher quality, reliability, and speed.

Even with a highly dispersed, largely remote workforce, we stay connected through our Slack channels, virtual events and regional meetups. Come see how we "role".

About The Role

The Platform Engineering Manager is a critical, hands-on leadership role reporting directly to the CTO. This position is centered on empowerment and enablement, focused on building a world-class platform that accelerates product development and helps us break down our core monolithic application, Nliven, into independent services.

You will lead the team responsible for executing the vision and roadmap for our entire technical foundation, including cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, developer experience, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) capabilities. This is a role for a leader and champion of developer productivity, operational excellence, and the adoption of modern engineering practices like SRE and Continuous Delivery. You won't just manage; you'll mentor, foster a culture of collaboration, and provide the tools and support to empower product development teams to self-serve and own their services.

This position is full-time and largely remote. Candidates must be located in California, Oregon or Colorado, in either the PT or MT timezones or in the NY Tri-State Area within New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut. Candidates may be required to travel and/or meet up in-person from time to time. There may also be an expectation in the future for hybrid work in a local office.

About You

You are a leader who understands that an Empowered Team is the most effective model for modern software delivery. You are excited by the challenge of transforming an older codebase and a monolithic architecture into independent services, knowing that this foundation is key to business growth.

  • You are a True Cross-Functional Partner: You instinctively collaborate with Product and Design leaders, acting as a force multiplier to ensure the platform meets the strategic needs of our product teams.
  • You Drive Quality and Velocity: You are passionate about the DORA capabilities and use them to guide your team's work, championing Continuous Delivery and SRE principles.
  • You Value Team Dynamic: You prioritize people who fit our collaborative culture over a strict checklist of technical skills, recognizing the power of shared growth and curiosity.
  • You're an SRE Champion: You have a deep appreciation for operational excellence, observability, and the use of SLOs, SLAs, and error budgets to continuously measure and improve system reliability.
  • You Lead with Empathy: You are skilled at navigating the complexities of organizational change, mentoring engineers, and helping product teams achieve greater autonomy and ownership.
What You'll Do

Your primary mission will be to lead the development of our engineering foundation to enable independent, cross-functional product teams:

  • Lead and Mentor the Platform Engineering team (Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps, Developer Experience, and SRE). You will cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Execute the Platform Strategy by partnering with the CTO to translate company goals into a tactical plan for the team and executing the platform roadmap.
  • Scale Cloud Infrastructure (Azure), overseeing its design, implementation, and management to ensure it is scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-effective.
  • Mature DevOps & Continuous Delivery by guiding the implementation of DevOps principles across the entire engineering department, including advancing our CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and automated testing capabilities.
  • Champion Developer Experience (DevEx), creating a seamless and productive experience for product developers by providing the tools, frameworks, and processes they need to effectively build, test, and deploy high-quality software.
  • Establish SRE Capabilities to ensure the high availability, performance, and reliability of our platform and applications. You will define and track key SLOs, SLAs, and error budgets to continuously improve system quality.
  • Empower Product Teams by working closely with them to understand their challenges and providing the necessary tools, training, and support for them to self-serve and own their services.
  • Ensure Security and Compliance for our platform and applications, adhering to best practices and relevant industry regulations.
