Job Description
Rosemary & Rye is hiring a part-time Prep & Event Chef to support both kitchen prep and on-site event execution. This role is essential to the success of our events—from helping prepare ingredients and organizing equipment to cooking, plating, and managing chef-attended stations on-site.
As a Prep & Event Chef, you'll work closely with the culinary team to execute a wide variety of event menus with care, speed, and consistency. You'll be responsible for maintaining food safety standards, assisting with load-in/load-out, and ensuring a clean and organized work environment at all times.
Candidates should have experience in a fast-paced kitchen, a working knowledge of culinary fundamentals, and a team-focused mindset. Attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to stay calm under pressure are key to succeeding in this role. Key Responsibilities:
Include, but are not limited to…
- Assist with ingredient prep, including chopping, washing, and portioning
- Prepare and store food according to recipe and menu standards
- Organize kitchen tools, equipment, and event supplies for both prep and service
- Load and unload food and supplies at the shop and event site
- Support setup and breakdown of onsite kitchens or service areas
- Cook, assemble, and plate food onsite according to the event timeline
- Manage chef-attended stations, including carving and replenishment
- Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards during prep and service
- Dispose of trash and clean kitchen areas according to venue requirements
- Provide friendly, professional service to guests and vendors
- Support other event-related tasks as requested by leadership
Qualifications:
- Experience as a prep cook or chef in a fast-paced kitchen
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills
- Solid understanding of basic culinary techniques and kitchen safety
- Familiarity with standard kitchen equipment and appliances
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work efficiently under pressure
- Excellent communication and a team-first attitude
- Physically able to stand and move for long periods
Compensation
This is a part-time, hourly position based on business demands. Compensation is dependent on experience and starts at $19.00 per hour. This role is tip eligible. Pay may increase over time based on experience, performance and tenure with the company.
