Job SummaryThe Associate Dean of Research provides strategic leadership and oversight for research initiatives within the College of Nursing and Health Professions. This role is responsible for fostering a vibrant research culture, supporting faculty scholarship, securing external funding, and advancing interdisciplinary research collaborations. The Associate Dean reports to the Dean and works closely with faculty, department chairs, and university leadership to promote research excellence, innovation, and impact in nursing and health professions. The Associate Dean will work closely with the Dean and academic leadership to elevate the College's research profile nationally and internationally.
Essential Job FunctionsStrategic Leadership & Research Advancement:
- Develop and implement a strategic vision to grow research productivity, visibility, and external funding.
- Lead initiatives to expand interdisciplinary and translational research aligned with the College's mission.
- Promote a culture of research excellence, innovation, and ethical scholarship.
Research Infrastructure & Administration:
- Oversee the Office of Research within the college, including pre- and post-award grant support.
- Facilitate compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations (e.g., IRB, HIPAA).
- Coordinate research-related reporting and data collection for accreditation and strategic planning.
Teaching and Scholarship:
- Maintain a minimum teaching load of 3 credit hours per academic year.
- Engage in scholarly and/or research activities that support evidence-based practice and academic inquiry.
Faculty & Student Support:
- Mentor faculty in research development, grant writing, and scholarly dissemination.
- Provide guidance and support to early-career faculty and postdoctoral fellows.
- Support student research initiatives, including undergraduate honors projects, graduate theses, and dissertations.
External Funding & Partnerships
- Cultivate relationships with funding agencies, foundations, and industry partners.
- Identify and disseminate funding opportunities to faculty and research teams.
- Represent the College in university-level research committees and initiatives.
Collaboration & Representation:
- Serve as a liaison with the University Office of Research and sponsored programs and relevant external agencies.
- Collaborate with other associate deans, department chairs, and centers to align research with teaching and service.
- Represent the College at regional, national, and international research symposia and forums.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in a health-related discipline (e.g., Nursing, Nutrition, Public Health, Health Administration, Allied Health, Audiology, etc.), Statistics, or related field of study.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience.
- Academic credentials suitable for appointment as a tenured Associate Professor.
- Proven track record of securing funding and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
- Demonstrated involvement in research.
- Knowledge of federal funding regulations, research compliance, and ethical research standards.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in leading research initiatives in nursing or health disciplines.
- Familiarity with federal funding agencies (e.g., NIH, HRSA, NSF).
- Demonstrated success in building research capacity and infrastructure.

Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift 25 lbs and be able to perform a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing, and walking between buildings
