Portland, Oregon, United States Northwest Regional Re-entry Center Full time

At NWRRC, we are passionate about helping our residents successfully reintegrate into society. Since 1964, we have provided high-quality reintegration services to individuals transitioning from incarceration, probation clients, and those under community restoration orders. As a non-profit organization, we operate a 150+ bed residential re-entry center, committed to promoting accountability, safety, and positive change in our community.

Position Overview: As a Resident Re-Entry Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, and our residents as they transition back into society. This is a key position in ensuring that residents are held accountable while being treated with dignity and respect. Please note that some job duties are gender-specific (e.g., conducting same-gender pat-down searches and observed urinalysis) due to the co-ed nature of our facility. If you are seeking a rewarding career in criminal justice, corrections, social services, behavioral health, or security, we'd love to hear from you

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor resident behavior and activities to ensure compliance with facility rules and regulations.

Maintain a secure and orderly environment through regular facility patrols, headcounts, and searches of resident rooms, property, vehicles, phones, and personal searches (pat-downs).

Respond to emergencies swiftly and appropriately.

Conduct observed urine collection and breathalyzer testing for residents and other contract clients.

Control and dispense resident medications and manage self-carry medications and supplements.

Track resident accountability while they are on approved absences from the facility (e.g., work, social passes).

Monitor electronic monitoring (GPS) reports for residents in the community and on home confinement.

Control all entry and exit into the facility to ensure security.

Maintain accurate incident logs and documentation of all facility activities.

Serve as the first point of contact for law enforcement, U.S. Marshals, U.S. Probation Officers, Bureau of Prisons personnel, and other related agencies.

Compensation & Benefits:

Hourly Rate: Starting at $26.97 for RRSI and $28.58 for RRSII

Qualifications: We're looking for candidates with a combination of relevant education and experience that demonstrates the ability to work effectively with individuals involved in the criminal justice system. Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to creating positive relationships with residents are essential.

Experience or education in criminal justice, social work, psychology, or related fields is preferred but not required.

We value candidates with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.

Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt to the needs of the program and residents.
