About the Role

As a member of Ascend's Data Team, the Data Systems Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and effectiveness of Ascend's data systems. This role supports the data engineering function by monitoring applications, supporting infrastructure, and contributing to cross-functional projects that enhance data governance and system performance. The Data Systems Analyst reports directly to the Data Engineer and collaborates closely with other members of the Data Team and cross-departmental partners to ensure data systems are well-documented, efficient, and aligned with organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Data Engineer to design, implement, and maintain cross-functional data projects.
  • Monitor and support Ascend's data applications and infrastructure to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a scalable data governance framework.
  • Create and maintain internal documentation, including technical guides, policies, and procedures to support consistent best practices.
  • Provide responsive support for data systems and tools across departments, helping to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.

Staff and Reporting Relationships

This role reports to the Data Engineer.

Qualifications

  • 1 - 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in an education or tech setting
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in
  • Google Sheets, BigQuery, and/or SharePoint, SSRS, & Excel
  • Command Line & PowerShell
  • Microsoft 365, Entra, and Active Directory
  • Experience managing educational student information systems such as Infinite Campus, PowerSchool
  • Experience with DevOps or GitHub
  • Emerging skills in Python, R, SQL,and BigQuery
  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Dagster, Airflow

Compensation

The salary will range between $60,000 - $75,000 annually, commensurate with level of experience
