Role description:
The Principal Engineer will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge in conveyance, collection, distribution, and treatment projects, along with their previous project management and business development expertise, to successfully lead and execute projects and manage project pursuits in Buffalo and beyond. This role offers significant growth opportunities for advancement as you manage delivery teams and build strong client relationships.
This position is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated, team-oriented, and flexible individual with the initiative and ability to develop business, lead pursuits, and tackle new projects, challenges, and concepts, to join our local team and lead water and wastewater projects with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country.
Role accountabilities:
In this role you will lead and manage the development of water and wastewater projects as a client-facing project manager. Our team helps clients achieve business objectives by creating and implementing innovative and effective solutions using state-of-the-art practices and technologies.
You will manage a range of projects for various clients in the region. Responsibilities will include managing budgets and delivery schedules for each assignment, and leading project teams to meet the project deliverables as well as Arcadis' quality and safety practices. Some travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, or general planning purposes depending on project staffing needs.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 15+ years of water and wastewater experience including all facets of project development / delivery, including planning, condition assessment, detailed design, QA/QC and construction services.
- Project management experience including at least 10 years of demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplined teams and managing small to large sized municipal water and wastewater projects.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering.
- P.E. License in New York.

- Team leadership experience including managing overall project delivery expectations, prioritizing tasks, and mentoring.
- Client management skills, including preparation and development of proposals and client relationship building.
Preferred Qualifications
- 15+ years of project management and team leadership relating to development and delivery of water and wastewater projects.
- Master's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Client and business development experience including client planning, strategic pursuits, positioning, proposal development and interview delivery

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision, EAP, 401K, STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward & recognition program and optional benefits including wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance and tuition reimbursement. We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $165,000 - $210,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
