Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern/Staff to join our finance team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals pursuing a career in accounting to gain hands-on experience across various financial functions, including corporate accounting, non-profit accounting, and regulatory reporting. The position is paid and designed to support professional growth in a dynamic environment, with exposure to diverse accounting software and financial concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with financial statement preparation, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring accurate and timely processing of transactions
  • Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations to verify accuracy of financial data
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger in compliance with GAAP standards
  • Conduct financial analysis and interpret financial reports to support management decision-making
  • Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements and ensure compliance with relevant laws such as SOX, LIHTC, securities law, and governmental accounting standards
  • Help with audit preparations and internal control assessments
  • Utilize accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or other financial management tools for daily tasks
  • Engage in financial report writing and interpretation to facilitate clear communication of financial data

Skills

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and accrual accounting
  • Familiarity with GAAP, regulatory reporting, and financial concepts such as balance sheet reconciliation and journal entries
  • Experience or knowledge of SOX compliance, LIHTC regulations, non-profit accounting, or securities law is a plus
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage or Xero; familiarity with financial software enhances efficiency
  • Ability to perform bank reconciliations, account analysis, and general ledger reconciliation accurately
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial reports and conduct cash flow analysis
  • Strong attention to detail coupled with effective time management skills
  • Good communication skills for financial report writing and collaboration within teams
  • Prior experience or coursework in public accounting, governmental accounting, corporate finance, or tax experience is advantageous

Pay: $ $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
