Insight Global is looking for a junior Data Engineer contractor for one our largest financial clients. They are seeking an entry level (0-18 months) junior data engineer who is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and systems. They will work closely with Product Owners and data analyst and business stakeholders to ensure that data is easily accessible and of high quality. Junior data engineers are expected to have less experience than data engineers and are expected to work under the guidance of experienced engineers. The successful candidate will assist in gathering requirements, curating data elements and documenting data lineage in specified data repositories within the bank. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of data engineering and work closely with experienced professionals.

The main responsibilities include the following:

  • Curating data elements and documenting data lineage
  • Managing data storage and ensuring data quality
  • Building and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes – moving data between different cloud-based platforms and on-premises data sources
  • Working with Product Owners and Analysts to understand business requirements and provide data solutions
  • Writing scripts and code to automate data processes
  • Develop and maintain data models and transformation logic using DBT in a cloud or on-prem data environment.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning and reviews.

Must Haves:

  • 0-2 years experience in Data analytics or engineering
  • Deep understanding of commonly used Databases, Data Warehousing, and ETL technologies (DataStage, DBT)
  • Knowledge of SQL
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, java, etc.)
  • Experience with Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Snowflake, etc.)
  • Eager to learn and grow in a collaborative environment
